Mossy Agate, while commonly grouped with agates, is not technically an agate due to its lack of banding. Instead, it is classified as a variety of Chalcedony. However, it remains part of the agate family in both aesthetic and energetic qualities. This stone typically appears clear to creamy white, with dendritic inclusions of iron or manganese that form the green, moss-like patterns within the crystal.

Mossy Agate is widely associated with abundance, often believed to attract energies of stability, prosperity, and growth. In agricultural communities, it has been valued as a talisman for fertility and vitality in the soil. It is commonly recommended to place a small piece of Mossy Agate in garden beds to promote thriving plant life. NOTE: This jewelry item has undergone a patina oxidizing process. I tarnish the wire-wrapped jewelry using a liver of sulfur solution, then polish the wire with 0000 fine steel wool and a polishing cloth to create this beautiful antique look. Once the oxidizing process is complete, I apply a clear protective coat over the design to make the piece weather-resistant. This clear coat also seals in the patina, helping to prevent further tarnishing and protecting the wearer from irritation- especially if they are sensitive to copper. (Typically, bare copper or patinas without a sealant will continue to naturally oxidize. This method stops that process and preserves the look you see in the photo permanently.)
